“Mobile Phone”… we all know what a mobile phone is but the term just does not do justice to the devices. After all, today’s so-called “mobile phones” do more than allow you to make a phone call on the go. The features on today’s phones enable you to do everything you would normally do with a phone...and then a whole lot more. It really is amazing!
In case you’re behind the times, text/image messaging is by far, one of the top features for many cell phone users. To text someone, all you do is use the QWERTY keypad on your phone or your alpha numeric keypad to type your message to the person(s) you want to contact. Or, if you’re sending a picture, you follow the phone prompts to send the picture. Both are a quiet and quick ways to send messages that people enjoy but as new technology becomes available, some of the other hi-tech mobile phone capabilities will certainly replace text/image messaging as a favorite cell phone feature.
With the further development of broadband technology and broadband companies stepping into the wireless phone arena, cell phones are also becoming a 21st century version of handheld entertainment. A number of companies now provide Internet access via cell phones. Users who add-on Internet to their cell phone service are able to do almost everything that Internet users surfing the Internet via computer can do. They can view web pages, download / upload content, send instant messages and emails, plus watch multimedia content! You would think that that’d be enough for one device to do but there’s more. Broadband providers on the cutting edge of technology are also finding ways to allow users to watch specialty programming such as HBO and to listen to Internet radio via cell phones.
So what’s the next big addition to cell phones? Maybe a fax machine, a flashlight, and a voice recorder. It seems these are the only technologies that haven’t been combined into the devices yet but, who knows?! One thing that is for certain is that people around the world are addicted to the pocket-sized devices and whatever add-on gadget comes next, it’s sure to be a hit!
